I’m interested in starting up an informal network of people (worldwide) committed to any or all of the following issues:
*Getting free or low-cost spay/neuter services in their community
*Trap/Neuter/Vaccinate/Release for feral cats
*Barn cat placement (for ferals that are slightly tame but not friendly enough for placement as house pets)
*Temporary foster care programs as an alternative to sheltering (i.e. people that are temporarily displaced and want to keep their pets)
*Helping owners contend with behavior issues
*Helping rescuers who need to place animals but can’t place them in a shelter because they’re full
*Programs that strive to prevent hoarding
*Advocating responsible ownership, including programs that help with vaccines, vet care, food, or shelter for outdoor animals
*Programs that use shelter animals as some sort of outreach the the community (i.e. therapy animals, being placed with people in a battered womens’ shelter, etc.)
Basically, I’m focusing on efforts that can be made to reduce the number of pets entering shelters and being euthanized.
All resources will be posted on this blog’s pages.
Hopefully, if a group can share resources, more people will realize what types of help are in their community.
